Many children are merely reading when asked to read and they are generally not keen in reading on their own.

Children should enjoy reading. There are two aspect in reading which every child must learn to appreciate and form a habit in reading.

The two aspects in reading are

i) interesting stories; and
ii) reading informative or knowledgeable facts.

Reading stories will help improve children’s conversational skills.

Whereas reading informative or knowledgeable facts will help build a child’s knowledge and intellectual skills.

It’s our aim to ensure that as children learn how to read, they also develop an interest to keep on reading.

1) The Child’s Ability to Understand Language

Try reading a text from a legal digest or a text from a medical digest. If you have no legal or medical background you will not want to read as you do not understand what you are reading.

Children may have difficulty in reading if they have a very bad eye sight.
